Cannoli Turned Apple Pie

While me & my son were watching Cake Boss, they were making their yearly Cannoli's and lil man wanted to try making them ourselves! So we got the ingredients together and mixed the dough, shaped our cannolis, then fried them...

Well..we must have not done something right because the cannoli dough started dissenigrating in the oil!! That was a bummer. So I attempted to make donut holes. I rolled the dough and fried it that way. They would either  come out perfect around but doughy inside, or burnt completely through. So that didn't work either! I tasted the dough & it had a pie crust flavor so I decided to turn it into just that.

I rolled it out some and laid it into a greased pie dish & baked it through. It came out great. I then boiled apple slices in water, with corn starch, sour cream, cinnamon and brown sugar for the pie filling. Then in a separate bowl I mixed flour, brown sugar, and butter for the pie apple topping. Baked til finished and it came out great.

Drizzled some vanilla frosting over the top and sprinkled with cinnamon.

 Pie Crust Dough Recipe:
1c flour
1/4 cup Crisco
1/4 cup sugar
Applesauce (in place of 1 egg)
Small Amount of Water needed for mixing
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Baked at 375 degrees for about 25mintues, give or take :) Until browned.
