The Legend of St. Nicholas - Book Review

http://booklookbloggers.com/art/_240_360_Book.1359.cover.jpgThe Legend of St. Nicholas written by Dandi Daley Mackall, and illustrated by Richard Cowdrey, begins the story about a little boy named Nick. Nick waited til the last minute to get his brothers Christmas gifts, because he didn't see the joy in giving, he would rather buy himself something else. It was then, that he overheard the store Santa telling a story to all the children, of a young man named Nicholas, who had a heart for those in need. This man spent his whole life secretly helping the poor all over the world. He would give gifts to those on Christmas Eve to remind them of the greatest gift of all, being the love of Jesus Christ. This story is showing how St. Nicholas became such an icon of the world. The story touched little Nick's heart, making him want to be a giver also, and remembering how much better it feels to give than receive.

The Legend of St. Nicholas is another beautiful book to read around Christmas time. It teaches children the history of St. Nicholas, and shows them that Christmas isn't all about receiving for yourself.
It's about giving gifts of love, to one another, just as Jesus has given us. This book gives a great opportunity to teach your children how to reach out and help those in need, to be less selfish, and just enjoy the Holiday season with a grateful heart and a thankful spirit.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change the shifting shadows. "
 -James 1:17
