Tough Cookie - A Christmas Story Book

 

Are you looking for a fun Christmas themed children's book? Check out "Tough Cookie - A Christmas Story" by Edward Hemingway. It's about a little gingerbread type cookie that is trying to find its place in life. He doesn't understand why he is salty and not very tastable, so he befriends a fox and begins his journey to figure out just who he is. The illustrations are adorable and the story line is sweet with an excellent ending. They also include a couple of recipes in the back of the book, so that you can make your own tough cookies or cute lil ornaments. You Are A Child Of God - Book Review

 

   You Are A Child Of God by Michelle Alisa Fritch, is a beautiful faith based children's coloring book filled with little notes to remind you of God's love. Each page has a sweet saying based on different bible verses, such as "God is Always thinking of you. If we were to count His thoughts of you, they would outnumber all the grains of sand in the world."(Psalm 139:13-18) and "God has great plans for you. He plans to bring you goodness and hope for your future."(Jeremiah 29:11) I like that the end of the book refers to the Bible verse where each phrase has come from. There are also a little designs throughout, that can be colored, adding your own little personal touch to each page. 

   This book is filled with encouraging phrases that uplift the reader and help them see how amazing God's love is for each of us. It's an adorable book to read with your little ones, and they will enjoy learning what each phrase means, while adding color to the pages as they go. It would make a great faith based baby shower book to give as a gift, but even adults
can enjoy this book for themselves, as it is a good reminder to read everyday... especially on those days we might be feeling down. The addition to bringing your own coloring to each page, will help bring a sense of calmness, creativity, and relaxation.

Little Gingerbread People Paper Craft For Kids

 

      Making Crafts during the season of Christmas, is so much fun! 

   An easy one for your little ones, is to make these fun Gingerbread People! For older children, they can draw their own gingerbread, but for younger, you can print off a pre shaped gingerbread character to trace. Use either brown construction paper, a paper store bag, or the packing paper Amazon delivers their gifts in (basically any brown paper you can use for this, but bonus points for repurposing!) and cut out little gingerbread guys. Have them draw designs with white paint or marker, and give them facial features with markers, stickers, beads, glitter ect. This project is so versatile! There are many options you could do to bring the craft to life. 

   Once the front of the gingerbread is dry, flip it over and glue cotton balls on and add glue to the sides, then place another piece of gingerbread cutout on top and smoosh it all together for a puffy gingerbread man! Another option would be to punch holes around the gingerbread siding and have them lace string through the holes to close it up. And if you want to make this activity even more fun, pair it with a good book about Gingerbread men! You could also stuff the gingerbread with little treats or candies, instead of cotton balls… the options are endless and it will look so cute any way they do it!
