The Color of Home - Book Review

   Color of Home by Kit Tosello is a small town, contemporary read about an interior designer named Audrey who takes time off work to go help with family. Her Great Aunt Daisy needs support in helping with her Great Uncle Dean, who was diagnosed with Alzheimers. While Audrey is visiting, she reminisces on her childhood memories of visiting the small town during her summers, but also feeling the grief of the memory in which it was the location where her father died. 

   There are many obstacle that Audrey runs into, the Sugar Pine Inn being one of them; she wants to find a way to restore it, instead of seeing it deteriorate into nothing. She meets, Paige, a little girl who needs a friend, and Cade, a handsome kind man, along the way, both being things that keep her longing to stay home for good. With her job back in California threatening to end and the pull she feels in Oregon, which landing point will she choose? 

   If you’re looking for a homey feel good story, I highly recommend reading The Color of Home. I absolutely loved reading this book! This story is inspiring and the descriptions were beautifully brought to life with such colorful detail. I loved reading about Audrey’s life, her ups and downs and reliving the memories with her. I felt relatable to her in many ways and really enjoyed seeing her come back to life once she arrived at her great aunt and uncle’s house. The relationships she built with each person she came across, and the comfort and connection she felt, was inspiring. It was a healing journey for her, being put right where she needed to be, and in the end, choosing what was best for her heart and soul.
