Horrid Henry The Movie is a Kaboom film, based on a children's story book series, and written by Francesca Simon. It is about a mischievous boy named Henry who always seems to get in trouble, causing a lot of people to not like him because of his ornery and joking self. Henry makes life hard for his school teachers, parents, his brother: Perfect Peter, the next door neighbor girl, Moody Margaret, and really any one he comes in contact with. Henry has always hated school and played pranks throughout, until he finds his school is being shut down and he is sent to an all girls school by his Aunt who mistakes him for a female. Henry then runs through several obstacles and tries to win a talents contest to save his school.
Horrid Henry reminded me much of the movie Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer, but more of a boy version, with a lot of the same movie visuals in color tone and abstractness. Horrid Henry The Movie seemed like an entertaining movie for kids, but I found it to be rowdy for the younger crowd and didn't like some of the behaviors shown by the children in the movie. The children disrespected their parents and adults in general, and didn't lead a good example. A song Henry sang in the movie, he said "Gonna be a rock-star, don't ever need to go to school" I understand this was a song, but I feel it will stick in a child's head and make them believe the same. All together, the movie is fun for older children, as long as the children don't get any ideas on how they should misbehave ;)
Horrid Henry The Movie is rated PG and runs 93 minutes. The cast is made up of: Theo Stevenson, Anjelica Huston, Parminder Nagra, Richard E. Grant and directed by Nick Moore. The Limited Edition DVD of Horrid Henry The Movie is available in English or French and the DVD features a special downloadable activity kit, official trailer and a fun non-toxic slime pack, while supplies last!
